Draft

The draft is held in the offseason, and it will be run simultaneously with the end of the first FA period using a draft utility that was created by VPI97 from FOFC. He has graciously provided the code to the public, and our own TexansGM has worked hard to tailor it for use by our league.

Using the forum log-in, the draft page is located here.

1.) Each team will have 3 hours on the clock once the draft begins. - I understand that there is no way to know exactly when you'll be on the clock, but this can't be helped. While I would love to give people plenty of time to research their picks and everything, there are just too many schedules, too many time zones, and too many opinions on how quickly it should go.

2.) 3 hour time window is only in effect from 9am EST to MIDNIGHT EST. - Although I know everyone has a different schedule, we'll go by mine since I'll be running the thing. If your team becomes "on the clock" at say 11 pm EST, your time will not expire until the next morning at 11 am EST. Obviously, you can make picks during "off the clock" times, but you will not be required to do so.

3.) Once you have missed a draft window, your time limit will drop to only 1. If you miss twice, I'll pick for you immediately the rest of the way. - I won't continue to wait around 3 hours for people if they have missed previous picks. EXCEPTION: If you miss your pick and get with me know soon afterward, I will still allow the 3 hour window for your next pick(s). But you only get one do-over.

4.) Everyone set draft lists whenever possible. - If you're like me and around the computer quite frequently, you can feel free to not set your draft list to "on." If you aren't going to be around, however, please turn your lists to "on" so that you don't inconvenience everyone else.

5.) I will enlist a couple of "draft cops" each season. - Basically, the "draft cops" will monitor people's time windows, PM or e-mail people who are on the clock, and keep track of picks in the Draft Forum. Obviously, these people will need to have frequent access to their computer during the draft.

6.) Commissioner-made "autopicks" are by in-game "needs list." - I'm not out to screw anyone, even the people who jerk us around and don't bother showing up. I will use the in-game "needs list" to select the highest rated player at that position. I will also take into account the team's draft history and won't continue drafting one position. If I exhaust the "needs list," I will draft for depth.

7.) Traded picks need to be placed in the trades forum. - Draft picks may be traded during the draft, even when a team is "on the clock," in a timely manner. Also, you may trade drafted players as well up until the end of the draft, at the point that I enter the picks into the game. Once that is done, you'll have to sign said player and eat any bonus money in order to trade them.
