Set-Up Procedures for New GMs
Once you have thoroughly familiarized yourself with all of these rules and procedures, here is how you'll set up your game for NAFL league play.
- Open the game, and click on the Multiplayer Man icon on the top toolbar. This will bring up the Multiplayer window, and you'll need this window open any time you load the league in the future.
- In that menu, click on "Enter New Career."
- In the resulting menu, select "participant" and enter the league ID as NAFLNAFL. Scroll down the team list to find the one you have been given, and select it. Select only NO preference draft. Hit enter, and it will tell you to send a specific file to your commissioner. That's not necessary so don't worry about it.
- Now, obtain the current files from the "League Files" tab. Place these files into your leagues sub-directory within your install folder.
- In addition, you'll need to obtain the latest .FRC file from the Commissioner. This file is not typically included in the league export.
- For past season data, you'll also need to download each of the "Yearly Stats Files" and each of the "Logs/Box Scores" files.
- You can now go back into the game, and making sure the Multiplayer window is open, click on "Load Game" on the top toolbar.
- After selecting your team under "participant," you'll be asked for a password. This must be obtained from the Commissioner and only needs to be entered once.
You're now all ready to go.
Once you have loaded the league, you can make nearly all changes yourself within the game, and they will all be sent in your export to the commissioner. You can make roster cuts, depth chart decisions, gameplan changes, etc.
**Note - Make sure you do not exit the game while making these changes. The game will not save your changes so you need to do everything you want to do and hit "Export Stage File." If you close the game, you'll lose all your changes. If you export before you're ready and close the game, you'll have to make all your changes again and export again.
Lastly, once you hit "Export Stage File," you'll take that file (located in your "export" sub-directory within your install folder) and upload it to the server using the link on the main page marked "uploads." You'll use your forum log-in information to access this upload page and can only upload files with your team's extension. This exporting procedure is how you'll always submit your changes. Anytime new league files are released, you'll simply unzip those files into your "leagues" folder.
