SD: So, when that fateful retirement day finally arrives….what do you see Joe Horn doing a few years down the road?

JH: Before or after my induction to the NAFL Hall of Fame? (laughs)  Seriously, I’ve done well for myself and have no financial worries after the game.  Do I want to coach?  Naw, maybe peewee football.  Announcer?  I think I’m too pretty for that gig.  Model? Naw, I’m too much of a man!   Something I am keen on trying might be GM’ing a franchise.

SD: Think you could do a better job at GM than those you’ve played for?

JH: Now that is a nice question to ask a guy hoping to re-sign with a team!  Next question! (laughs)

SD: Just a few more questions Joe.  Currently, the Saints are off to a good start at 2-1 and are in first in the NFC South.  Realistically, what are the Saints chances this year in one of the NAFL’s most competitive divisions?

JH: Yeah, the South is tough….but we’re tougher.  I don’t make guarantees….I leave that to mouthy asses like that Brees character.  Love the purple uni’s Drew! (rolls eyes)  But I will tell you this.  We should have been division champs last season, and will not let it slip by this year.  Carolina isn’t the team they were last year, and the division is ours for the taking.  At a minimum? Playoffs.  But we aren’t stopping there.  Not if Joe Horn has anything to say about it!

Joe Horn by the numbers...

2004 -  1296 Yards, 73 Catches, 7 TDs

2005 -  1381 Yards, 77 Catches, 6 TDs

2006 -  1276 Yards, 79 Catches, 9 TDs

2007 -  1158 Yards, 76 Catches, 7 TDs

SD: Last question, then we need to get back to the party.  However long your career lasts, do you have any regrets?

JH: Only one….but this season is still young and we could rectify that in January.  I also regret that we, the team, didn’t complain more to get Brooks run out of town on a rail.  If I didn’t know better….I’d guess he was trying to lose us those ballgames.  Maybe he had money on the other team?  Who knows?

SD: Alright….before you get yourself into trouble, let’s end this.  Thanks for you time Joe. Now let’s hit the bar!

JH: Yeah…finally….and you’re buying the next 3 rounds you mooch.

With that, we ended the interview and re-entered the bar.  We finished out the evening listening to some great music, talking to the partiers and natives of New Orleans.  While I felt Joe held back in the interview, I also think that he still has a lot of decisions to make about his future as well.

Good luck Joe Horn!
