There have been rumors of grumbling in the Chicago Bears front office over the blossoming sophomore slumps of WR Vince Powell and DE Jason Mireles. Both were 1st round picks and had promising rookie campaigns, but so far this year Powell has averaged just 29

and Mireles only had two sacks before suffering an elbow injury that will keep him out for the next 6 weeks. There are rumors that the San Diego Chargers are quietly disappointed in Brian Urlacher’s performance, but admit that he is being protected by two great tackles and an over-performing Nate Clements at safety. They have also begun contract extension negotiations with Joey Harrington, acquired last year in a trade with the Detroit Lions. Speaking of the Lions, rumors has it that Gerald Meeber has been frustrated with the game plan the Lions have instilled and wishes they would tone it down just a little bit. Jake Delhomme of the Carolina Panthers doesn't understand why he’s not starting and Akbar Gbaja-Biamila is annoyed that the Panthers didn't even make an attempt to sign brother Kabeer during Free Agency.
